DAY ONE
Land. Get connected. Get yourself home. Find food. Locate the nearest Boots. Try not to make any major life decisions while jet-lagged.
You’ve sorted the visa, booked the flight and somehow packed your life into a few suitcases. Then you land and realise there are approximately 400 smaller things nobody mentioned.
How do I get from the airport with all this stuff? Which bank will actually let me open an account? What’s a share code? Do I need a UK SIM immediately? How do I register with a GP? Why did that lady shout at me for standing on the left of the escalator?
Your first 7 days in the UK is a free practical guide to what’s actually worth sorting during your first week — what to do when you land, which admin matters now, and what can absolutely wait.

Land. Get connected. Get yourself home. Find food. Locate the nearest Boots. Try not to make any major life decisions while jet-lagged.
Get your documents organised. Check your eVisa. Figure out banking. Get your transport sorted. Deal with the admin that's going to make everything else easier.
Register with a GP. Learn your neighbourhood. Find somewhere that does decent coffee. Look for communities you might actually want to join. Start turning "where I'm staying" into where I live.
You’re moving to the UK for work, study, love, a fresh start or simply because you decided it was time to do something big.
You like knowing what you're walking into, but every Google search seems to produce another twelve things you're apparently supposed to know.
And you'd quite like someone who's already done the whole moving-countries thing to tell you: Do this first. Don't worry about that yet. And yes, feeling slightly overwhelmed is completely normal.
It's written with women moving abroad in mind, whether you're heading for London, Manchester, Edinburgh or somewhere considerably less chaotic.
You don't need to know exactly what your new life is going to look like yet. You just need somewhere to start.

The Expattery was born out of a realisation that while there is plenty of dry, bureaucratic advice out there, there wasn't much for us. The women who want to build a life that feels intentional and grounded from day one.
I’m here to bridge the gap between "official visa requirements" and the actual lived experience of moving to the UK. Think of me as your well-connected friend who moved here a year before you and already made all the mistakes so you don't have to. We’re building more than just a move; we’re building a life you actually love.
